Background

The myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) include essential thrombocythemia (ET), polycythemia vera (PV) and myelofibrosis (MF). MF – includes primary and post-ET, post-PV myelofibrosis. These clonal, chronic myeloid neoplasms lead to significant symptoms, difficulties with blood flow, risk of blood clots and bleeding, risk of acute leukemia and can be a significant burden on the patients who are afflicted. In 2011 MPN clinical investigators, Drs. Ruben A. Mesa, Srdan Verstovsek, Jean-Jacques Kiladjian and Claire Harrison founded the MPN-QOL International Study Group to address these issues.
